Polaris | The playable proof of concept of a mobile game.

Polaris is a mobile game designed for Android tablets, but also playable on smartphones. It showcases three playable levels.

The little paper ship is on a journey through different planets. The brightest star, the polar star, guides the way through these unknown landscapes and little secrets can be discovered.

The game design and beautiful 2D art was created by Lidia Diaz Navarro. My contribution (UX/UI Developer) was the UX design and the development of the UI in Unity C#.

The following picture shows the flowchart of the menus. Camera animation was used to create smooth transitions between the different screens.

Flowchart of Polaris

Subtle instructions at the beginning of the first level explain how to steer the ship through the levels. The flow of water and the movement of the ship is achieved by tilting the device to the left or to the right, based on the behavior of water in the real world.

On the journey, keep in mind not to lose to much water that the ship will run aground. Hot areas will vaporize water, so you have to find a way to find new water sources.
