Papergolf is an action minigolf game. The player has to play the ball into the objectives with less strokes as possible. Colourful pads grant the ball special abilities like jumping, size swapping, changing and reinforcement of the direction.
We developed the game in the Unreal Engine and wanted to create a beautiful and entertaining game. A paper-like low-poly look was our choice for the game. We focused on simple 3D graphics and a good user-experience. Playtests with different users were a very important part of the development process and level design.

The User-Interface
The UI is simple and reflects the look & feel of the game. The menus are clear and simple, with only a few buttons.
The in-game UI elements strikes the eye. Animated colourful splashes on the bottom indicate the special ability the ball has picked up. Additionally the ball is dyed in the colour of the ability and an animated call-to-action (“Jump!”) is displayed on top of the pad.

The Look of Papergolf
The use of watercolour textures, warm lighting, as well as post-processing effects in Unreal achieved the papier-mâché look.
If you want to try the game yourself, write me a mail. I’ll send you a download link for Papergolf.
